From the Slashdot’s article about engineering education. I would like to share some aspect about engineering education from my experience.
The main cause of bad feeling to be Thai engineering student is most of your friend applied to this faculty just for money. More than half of your friend would be know next to nothing about engineering. They just know that to get some good grade they have to be good at Physics and Mathematics and they applied to this faculty simply because they will get a good-payment job when they earn the degree.
Things get worse with under-waged professors. Most Thai professors have do so many sideline jobs to pay their bills. While I think its okay to do some sideline jobs, most of them has so little time to spent with their student. There are two different outcomes for this situation. First, the professors just order you so many homework and give so little advice, little clue. They tended to grading those homework so lately most homework won’t give any grade or solutions to the students at all. Another is, the professor just do nothing. They just lecture and don’t give any homework. All you have to do in the class is listen and then you do the exam, that’s all.
Thai education system need to be revamped. (In fact, it need an overhaul)
