Azureus gone at last

After used as Windows/Linux bridge, today I decided to remove Azureus out of my computer for it has major memory leak problem. Memory leak problem occurred in many recent version of Azureus. Bad news is its’ seem to be getting worse on Azureus3. Anyone who faced with this problem will found himself unable to resume partially downloaded file.

I am tried about half dozen of Azureus replacement. It’s much harder than I think for Azureus has many advanced and very flexible feature. The first replacement I found on Ubuntu Forum is Deluge which renamed from gTorrent, it’s quite workable but it miss a major feature: listen port configuration. I also try Bittornado which turn out to be buggy with some filename.

I found Rufus at last, while it may not powerful as Azureus, I found that it serve all my need very well. Some configuration needed to restart program cost me annoy but it seems to be okay for I need to configure it just once.

Rufus work very well on Linux. I had a minor problem in installation script but all others work very well. The only cons I’m serious about it is events notification. Rufus has none of pop-up or any kind of system tray notification so you has to look at it’s windows yourself. I hope this will be improved in version 1.0.
